LPSCon WC 2018 Experience

The 2018 West Coast LPSCon certainly was an upgrade from last year's experience. From a park to a convention center, and few attendees to three hundred and fifty five, these factors made way for proven success. This year's LPSCon was held in Henderson, Nevada, in Henderson's convention center, not far from Las Vegas. To begin the schedule, everyone broke out their LPS to begin trading while they waited for the convention to start. As many as fifteen tables were set up with at least seven girls assigned to each. Each table represented a team, in which  each team could choose a name and captain. Once the time reached two o'clock the convention officially began. LPSGoGo, otherwise known as Nana, welcomed everyone. She explained her happiness for the convention's success and for all who attended. Nana then proceeded to present the Greeting Video, a collage of mini greetings presented by those who could not attend. Much to everyone's surprise and excitement, LPSSplashTv was one of them.

After the video, the convention continued with a half hour of trading, followed by the LPS Scavenger Hunt. Each team was directed to search the building for certain objects. Different objects held different point amounts. After everyone was settled back, those who had the opportunity to sell during the market were instructed to set up their table, then begin selling at four. I myself sold LPS dragon costumes, which I would say were a success. Many others sold cheap LPS, houses, and customs. Everything was sold quickly! At Nana's table, many popular pets were being sold cheap in which the funds would be donated to charity. The market lasted two hours, followed by the grand mascot picture and a picture of all the attendees. There were so many girls, the crowd had to be split into two to fit on the convention center's steps!

When asked about their thoughts on LPSCon, an attendee by the name of LpsWithCheese said “I really like it. It’s a really good idea, and it was well executed, too.”

Another attendee, Caroline, said “It’s really great. There are so many people who are willing to trade with you, and they’re hanging out with you, so everyone is able to connect and have a great time.”

At six forty-five, a four story cake was delivered and cut. Each layer represented a different flavor, and it was decorated with LPSCon's theme colors. The top of the cake featured the excited Pazie, LPSCon's mascot! After all those who wanted cake were given a slice, the convention continued with jeopardy. A few of the categories included were LPSTube mascots, LPS Numbers, and Fake, Real, or Custom. Table Five took the win. The long-awaited fashion show then took place. Each team would select a mascot and use the accessories everyone brought to build an outfit according to the theme. A few themes included Fairy/Princess, Wild West, and the final theme, Wedding. Table One took this win, adding a groom, a car, and fairy lights to their bride to ensure a victory.

After everyone had settled down, it was finally the moment everyone had been waiting for. The raffle! Prizes and the previously bought tickets were brought to the stage. Nana would present a raffle prize to the crowd, then pull a ticket to name the winner. I myself one the prize with a cocker spaniel and golden retriever, and my name was called two more times after that, but each attendee could only keep one. The winner of the grand comic con cat was none other than LpsRockyPaws! After the excitement died down, Nana recited her farewell speech, thanked all who attended, and passed out goodie bags with candy. The convention was over; it was certainly a day to remember. Next year’s convention will certainly be an even grander event, since Nana is planning on having it last two days, have a bigger market, and even invite special guests for a panel!

“It’s better than what I thought it would be, and a lot more fun than I thought it would be.” Says Aubrey, an attendee. “It’s pretty cool, the interactions with everyone. There’s a lot of cool people here.”
